Elephant populations are declining rapidly worldwide due to ever increasing demand of ivory. Africa is at the heart of the crisis suffering large accounts of illegal slaughtering.
The value of ivory is increasing and is almost rivalling that of gold which makes it an issue very difficult to control in poverty striken areas.
This short reportage not only analyses the declining elephant population but also the reasons for soaring demand which puts religions in the spotlight. China, Indonesia and Thailand are among the biggest importers which justify the demand for religeous carvings.
An interesting watch which is not to be missed.
